The Shanghai Buckeyes Club is organizing our first 2008 “Mixer” and we hope you can join us! Since we are spread across Shanghai, we’ve selected a location that, we hope, is centrally located to make it a bit more convenient for everyone…Starbucks Xintiandi (2F) (Building 18, lane 181, Tai Chang Lu  Tel: 021-63200137).  

Given work, kids and travel schedules, we’re also trying to make the date convenient for everyone by offering two dates you can join us in March…on a weekend, Saturday, March 22, 3-5pm, (RSVP) and during the week, after work, Tuesday March 25, 6:30-8pm. (RSVP)

Based on the turnout for our March mixer, our next mixer will be planned for early/mid-May. At the March mixer we encourage you to offer suggestions for future club and mixer; ideas, locations, formats, timeframes, agenda’s, etc. We are also encouraging you to suggest ways you are interested in helping to promote, organize and maintain the club in 2008…after all, it’s your club to make as successful as it can be!     

We have specific need for help in the following areas:

1.   Assistance in identifying & securing a 2008 Buckeye game-watch location convenient for Pudong-area Buckeyes

2.   Assistance in helping to organize Buckeyes clubs in Beijing and Guangzhou ( i f you spend a lot of time in either c i ty, o r know of Buckeyes in either city, we need your input!)

3.   Assistance in organizing a summer family event (picnic, touch-football, soccer, softball, etc.) perhaps we can do something in coordination with another university, state or country club. Any ideas?)

4. Assistance in helping to improve our Buckeyes-in-China website

Of course, we also very interested in other suggestions you have to improve your club, including other fun events and/or ideas you have to be of service or assistance to fellow Ohioans in Shanghai, and throughout China .

We are also looking for additional Buckeye "Captains" to chair committees identified as hightest priority in 2008...we can provide more details about this at the mixer. We really need your help!!

People at Ohio State University , Ohio state and municipal governments, Ohio business associations and media have been very encouraging about our organizing efforts to date…and they are interested promoting what we are doing back in Ohio .     

We hope we're announcing our March mixer far enough in advance to make it easy for you to schedule time to gather with us. Regardless of whether you can only stop by for a quick latte, please schedule time to visit! And, by all means, kids are encouraged!
