Buckeyes v. LSU Game-watch at Bubba’s in Shanghai

Hongqiao - While the result may not have been what the gathered Buckeye faithful was hoping for, more than 20 Buckeyes gathered…along with a handful of Tiger fans, and even some other Michigan and Big Ten fans…to watch the Buckeyes in their second consecutive BCS championship game Tuesday morning January 8 at 9am.

In retrospect, this reporter shouldn’t have been completely surprised by the outcome, since from the time Buckeyes convened, to the time we all departed, the mood of Buckeyes at Bubba’s seemed “subdued”. Since it was an early start, and Shanghai is noted as a late-night party city, perhaps many of the Buckeyes gathered still a bit sleepy early Tuesday morning.

Of course, the quiet was temporarily punctuated with Buckeye noise and glee as the young men on the field in New Orleans took an early-game lead on the Tigers. For those of us at Bubba’s a year early, we remember how the Buckeyes took an early lead against the University of Florida (Gators) , only to succumb in a similar fashion!

Led by fellow Buckeye, Jeffrey Richards, here in Shanghai with his family, and working for Delphi, a slightly smaller group of Buckeyes was also convened at Shanghai’s Big Bamboo the same morning to watch the live game feed courtesy of the increasingly popular “slingbox” internet technology.

Well, putting the best spin on another disaster for Coach Tressel & company, There were certainly a lot of other fans of college football teams who would have been VERY happy to even be playing in a championship game….let alone for the second consecutive year!

Shanghai Buckeyes, Fight on to next season!! GO BUCKS!!!!!

O-H.....!!!
